Ford Everest’s New Tow Technology Makes Trailing Easier Than Ever

Dubai, UAE, January 11, 2024: Ford Everest’s new generation introduces a host of innovative technologies and smart safety features that make towing and hauling easier, safer, and more comfortable.

With its impressive towing capacity of up to 3.1T, the new Everest is designed to let owners take everything they need on their adventures. And with even more towing technologies to make towing heavy loads easier, customers can spend more time exploring the great outdoors with peace of mind.

Easier Trailer Hookup

Connecting a trailer to a tow vehicle can be difficult and time-consuming, especially if you’re doing it by yourself or with a helper. Aligning the trailer hitch receiver with the ball hitch can be a challenge, especially when trying to get the ball centered perfectly under the receiver.

The new Everest makes the hookup process simple, with a 360-degree bird’s-eye camera view that helps you guide the vehicle close to the trailer. The rearview camera with dynamic lines and distance markers helps you line up the ball hitch with the receiver with precision. And a trailer hitch view button provides a comprehensive view of the ball hitch and its connection point.

Checking and Verifying

The new Everest’s trailer hookup checklist, integrated into the SYNC® system, provides a detailed reference guide that walks owners through the steps required to safely connect a trailer before hitting the road. Owners can also check the trailer lights by pressing a button on the SYNC® screen. The system will cycle the trailer’s taillights, brake lights, and turn signals five times, giving the driver enough time to confirm that everything is working properly before departing.

Safe Driving

The new Everest’s dedicated towing/hauling driving mode ensures the best balance of power and control for the driver. The vehicle delivers the power needed when needed and will assist with engine braking when driving in hilly terrain. It also increases the resistance of the steering wheel to improve control and comfort.

The new Everest also features a trailer brake control system that works with the trailer’s electric brakes to enhance safety during driving. The system automatically adjusts engine power based on brake pedal pressure, and works with the anti-lock braking system (ABS) to reduce the risk of trailer brakes locking up under heavy or sudden braking.

Trailer Sway Control System

The new Everest’s innovative trailer sway control system is another technology that helps drivers tow with greater confidence and safety. The system works with the electronic stability control (ESC) system to monitor towing performance. If the trailer starts to sway from side to side, the system will warn the driver to slow down or brake the vehicle and trailer. In some cases, the system will even reduce engine power to help the driver regain control of the vehicle and stop the trailer from swaying.

Trailer Blind Spot Information System (BLIS)

The Ford BLIS® system now includes trailer blind spots, too, helping you change lanes safely. The system is designed to work with trailers up to 2.4 meters wide and 10 meters long (measured from behind the vehicle). The BLIS® system uses radar sensors to monitor the adjacent lanes for vehicles and alerts the driver of any potential hazards. A trailer profile must be created by following the instructions on the SYNC® touchscreen.

Ford Everest’s new towing technologies make it easier than ever to hook up a trailer, tow a load, and drive safely. With these innovative features, Everest owners can focus on enjoying their adventures with confidence.
