Nissan Unveils Long-Term Vision Centered on AI-Driven Mobility and Electrification
YOKOHAMA, Japan – 15 April 2026: Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has unveiled its long-term strategic vision, “Mobility Intelligence for Everyday Life,” outlining a customer-centric roadmap focused on artificial intelligence, electrification, and streamlined global operations.
The vision places AI-Defined Vehicles (AIDV) at the core of Nissan’s future, with the company targeting the integration of its proprietary AI Drive technology across 90% of its vehicle lineup over the coming years. This approach combines advanced driver assistance, autonomous capabilities, and intelligent in-car systems designed to enhance safety, convenience, and overall user experience.
President and CEO Ivan Espinosa emphasized that the initiative marks a pivotal step beyond the company’s current Re:Nissan plan, setting a clear direction for long-term growth. He noted that customer experience will remain the guiding priority, supported by innovations that make mobility more intuitive, accessible, and valuable.
Electrification remains a central pillar of the strategy. Nissan will expand its e-POWER hybrid technology while introducing a broader mix of powertrains, including plug-in hybrids and range-extender solutions. This diversified offering aims to address varying market demands while facilitating the transition toward fully electric vehicles.
In parallel, the company is restructuring its global product portfolio, reducing its lineup from 56 to 45 models. The revised strategy categorizes vehicles into four segments—Heartbeat, Core, Growth, and Partner—allowing for clearer positioning and more efficient development. Upcoming models such as the next-generation X-Trail hybrid and an all-new Juke EV highlight this direction.
Nissan is also transforming its industrial model through a product family strategy built on shared platforms, powertrains, and software. This shift is expected to increase production efficiency, accelerate development timelines, and improve cost competitiveness.
Geographically, the company is sharpening its focus on three key markets—Japan, the United States, and China—which will serve as both performance drivers and innovation hubs. Additional regions, including the Middle East, Mexico, and Europe, will continue to support growth through targeted product strategies and strong market presence.
As part of its broader ambitions, Nissan aims to leverage AI and electrification to deliver sustainable growth while strengthening its competitive position in the global automotive industry.
