Third Edition of International Off-Road Day to Take Place on November 17 in Sharjah, UAE
Sharjah, UAE – X Quarry Off-Road Park in Mleiha, Sharjah’s stunning desert area, is gearing up to host the third edition of the International Off-Road Day on November 17, 2024.
This luxury sports event is organized under the supervision of the Off-Road Zone, a company specialized in Jeep and 4X4 cars, and leading providing spare parts and services for Jeeps. In recent years, the company has launched two editions of the event, both of which achieved remarkable success. This success was evident in the participation of hundreds of off-road enthusiasts and the high level of engagement in the various entertainment activities accompanying the event.
Around 200 off-road enthusiasts are participating in this major event. They have been invited as part of the ‘OffRoad-Zone’ network, which boasts approximately 800 members spread across the UAE.
At the beginning of the International Off-Road Day, participants are divided into groups and provided with detailed explanations of the movement plan. They are briefed on the stages they will go through the park, rough terrains and various obstacles. Guides will also ensure to explain how to respond in case of any emergencies that may arise during the event.
Hakob Harutyunyan, CEO of Off-Road Zone, commented: “International Off-Road Day celebrates the deep connection between Emiratis and the desert – a relationship marked by tackling challenges, overcoming difficult circumstances, and a determination to achieve remarkable accomplishments.”.
Harutyunyan added: “This event is more than just a sporting activity; it symbolizes the significance of the desert in Emirati culture, where the spirit of challenge and determination to achieve goals comes to life. It also fosters joy and happiness, bringing together families and friends in an atmosphere full of excitement, creating lasting memories.”
Harutyunyan further noted: “The event aligns with the onset of the ‘World’s Coolest Winter’ campaign, a period when Emiratis embrace their country’s stunning natural landscapes, enjoying the pleasant weather and pure desert air. November is a time when outdoor adventures peak, with people drawn to the wide-open spaces and sense of freedom that the natural landscape offers. At Off-Road Zone, we aim to make the International Offroad Day a part of this festive spirit while promoting responsible behavior toward the environment. Our approach ensures that participants respect the natural surroundings, leaving no waste behind, and transforming off-roading from spontaneous individual behaviors into a well-considered approach that takes into account all safety requirements and environmental preservation.”
The tradition of off-roading in the UAE dates back to the 1950s, when the first arrival of four-wheel-drive vehicles enabled locals to explore desert routes for travel. Over time, this practical mode of transport evolved into a beloved pastime, fostering social bonds and instilling a sense of excitement, challenge, and joy among enthusiasts.
