(10 May, Middle East) MG Motor’s Cyberster has been named “Best EV Roadster” in Top Gear’s fifth annual Electric Awards, solidifying its position as a trailblazer in the electric vehicle segment as MG continues its centenary celebrations this year. The British-born brand’s flagship 2-door fully electric sports car, which recently visited all six G.C.C. countries as part of a special transcontinental tour, has set new benchmarks in the category since its reveal.
Evaluated by a panel of experts from the world-famous Top Gear team, the awards celebrate the greatest cars in the evolving electric vehicle (EV) sector across a range of categories. The judges voted the MG Cyberster ‘Best EV Roadster’ citing its exhilarating driving performance and refined handling.
Taking inspiration from the brand’s renowned classic MGB model, the Cyberster represents an exquisite combination of futuristic design, strong performance and sustainability. Single and dual motor options deliver outstanding performance with the dual motor Cyberster GT providing an output of 496 HP (375kW) and 725Nm (535 lb ft) of torque. The all-wheel-drive GT can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in a blistering 3.2 seconds making this MG’s fastest-ever accelerating production car.
Speaking of MG’s win, Top Gear Magazine’s Associate Editor, Tom Ford, said that the Cyberster “takes the brand somewhere new” and “it’s unique in its sector.” Ford’s praise continued, commenting “the big news is that the Cyberster is a hoot to drive” and is “absolutely enough for a twisty loop of road.”
The MG Cyberster’s tour around the Middle East, which concluded earlier this year, saw the Cyberster visit iconic landmarks across Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, and Oman, showcasing MG’s dedication to electric mobility and its rich automotive heritage.
Tom Lee, Managing Director of MG Middle East: “In MG’s centenary year, the Cyberster has already received a lot of positive feedback in the Middle East, so we are incredibly proud to receive such a prestigious award from Top Gear. It reinforces our commitment to delivering innovative and exceptional electric vehicles that resonate with our customers in the Middle East.”
The Cyberster is set to launch in the Middle East later in 2024.
